Moore Brothers' connection to science and industry runs deep. Oliver and Sam Moore grew up on a small island, commuting by skiff and spending their early careers on the wharfs and docks of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution — building and working on submarines, ships, and research vessels. It was hands-on work at the intersection of engineering and the sea that instilled an early understanding of what composite structures are asked to do in serious scientific and industrial applications.

That experience on the water also ignited a passion for building, and eventually racing, sailboats. The trajectory from WHOI docks to grand prix racing craft is not as unlikely as it sounds. Both demand the same things: precise engineering, careful material selection, and structures that perform without compromise.

That foundation informs the work we do today. Moore Brothers has completed projects for leading underwater research organizations including Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution; delivering custom-machined components for autonomous underwater vehicles, telescope housings, weather buoy masts, and submarine housings.

We have also supported defense clients with composite structures and components, and brought the same precision to automotive applications, including custom body panels for one-off motorsport race builds, and tooling and patterns for production line support.
